WoW crashes and corrupted terrain files.

Postby Dracolich666 » Thu Mar 01, 2007 22:07

So I've been getting this at least once a week. I run the repair thingy and it fixes it for about a week then it happens again. 75% of the time it's been while in flight as I land somewhere. I did find out there's a new directx out as of Feb 2007 so I'm installing that to see if that fixes it. Anyone else have any other ideas?

If the repair.exe didn't work, try a fresh install.

It could be a hard drive problem too.

I had the same scenario before, even after running repair.exe it'd crash..

Did a fresh install and downloaded fresh patches and that worked out well.

The patches won't be as bad now since TBC installation will bring you to 2.0 right away.

Yeah if I continue to see it I'm going to reinstall it on my other HD. I installed the new directx so we'll see if that ends it.

This sounds like what I've just recently started seeing. Are you getting discoed right as you're about to land after taking a FP? For some reason if I try to fly into Ogrimmar this is when it happens to me.

I'll try the options listed above and see if that helps, odd that it just started doing this the last week or so.

Yeah that's exactly what happens. It seems terrain.mpq files are being corrupted for some reason. I defragmented and I had a huge chunk of fragmented files that was ALL terrain.mpq files from WoW.

This is a different thing Jay...seems to be happening to a lot of people. Disconnects whenever you move into a new zone.

Haplox is getting file errors, which crash the game completely.

Well I'm just glad it's not just me had a feeling my PC was about to hork on itself. The repair.exe I'm assuming is in my WoW directory?

I'll fiddle with it this weekend and see if anything helps.

Thanks guys :)
