Blizzard has stated that they don't want a rehash of the previous Diablo characters, D3 is to provide a new gameplay experience. So far we have:
Barbarian: completely different from D2: Barbarian
Witchdoctor: completely different from D2: Necromancer
Wizard: completely diffrent from D2: Sorceress and D1: Mage.

Yeap, all new classes rolleyes

The two remaining classes are not known yet, but they have been decided by Blizzard.
So far, it's only known what they aren't, which is: Amazon, Assassin, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin or Sorceress.

How can you possibly go without the Paladin or the amazon? They were in both D1 and D2.. sure I understand making the game fresh and new but why go mucking it up! yeesh.. I liked the Amazon and Paladin.

But wait they are bringing back the Barbarian?

There was a paladin in D1?

I'd love to see a monk or an acrobat style class, could be thought of as a replacement for a paladin and assassin.

I shouldn't be quite so sarcastic, aparently the wizard is going to have some melee characteristic of some sort, conjuring swords and whatnot.
